What’s the Difference Between Plasma TVs and LCD TVs?
Plasma and LCD TVs are the latest trend in home entertainment. Both offer unprecedented image quality and resolution while they are with the bulkiness of the older rear-projection technologies. But with all the hype surrounding these two types of televisions, what is the difference between them? Although they look and are virtually the same price, they are not.
There are differences in the way they view their pictures found. Plasma TV technology is made up ofHundreds of thousands of small pixels, each capable of displaying red, green and blue. A plasma monitor often consists of two plates with an inert gas such as xenon filled, neon. If the pixels are excited by electrical pulses, the gas in liquid, thus producing light. This light in turn then illuminates the pixels, making them the appropriate color to display an image form.
LCD panels function in very similar ways. A jury ofThin-channel, or TFT, sends electricity to cells filled with liquid crystal. If the cells are struck by the stream, so that the liquid crystal light to filter through. Unlike the pixels found in plasma TVs, LCD monitors create color by blocking the corresponding wavelengths from white light.
So what is better? The answer to this question depends on what you plan on TV. Have you just want to use to store movies and television? If so, then a plasma TVis perhaps the best because they have a higher better color saturation and contrast than their LCD counterparts, and able to display moving images. If you plan to show in spending a lot of time, digital photography, or are planning, with the monitor to the computer, then a LCD display might be better suited this purpose.
Both plasma and LCD technologies have their pros and cons and your decision should ultimately based on your monitorApplication.

| Review by Stacey B. (Phoenix, Az) 2010-03-08 I have been searching for a television for months. Something that would fit into my budget. I only wanted to pay around $275.00, and this one came in at just 289.00. I kept going back to this t.v. on Amazon because of the price along with the base for my IPOD. The brand name also made me feel trusting. I am amazed at how easy the set up was, espec... Read more Panasonic VIERA X1 reviews | ||

| Review by W. Christopher Fulton (Oakland, CA) 2010-03-06 Enjoyed this TV for 10 months until it developed a vertical banding issue. A gray-white band approximately an inch wide appeared vertically across the entire screen. (Google it, seems it has been an issue with some Samsung displays.) Samsung asked that I send the TV to their service center via UPS. They returned the TV a month later and when ... Read more Samsung LN32B460 32-Inch reviews | ||

| Review by Richard L. Wood (Seattle, WA USA) 2010-03-09 It likely goes without saying that 240mHz makes a big difference. However, when I had my HD service installed by Comcast on this TV, even the technician said, "WOW, that picture is unreal! Is this a 240? It's like the people are walking around in 3D." I couldn't agree more! It's simply the most amazing television I've ever owned. S... Read more Samsung UN55B8000 55-Inch reviews | ||
